RE: portable waste tanks

I keep a 15 gal for emergency when in campgrounds without sewer hook ups. I do have a trailer hitch device bought at camping world so it is fairly easy to use. Just be careful when filling. I did try to use at a Florida state park (Long Key) and was told by the attendant that the tanks were not allowed due to several mishaps in the past.

RE: Thinking about buying an 2004 Travel Supreme

I have owned a Travel Supreme and would say that it is comparable to Mountain Aire some Holiday rambler models and Monaco as well. It depends which model you are buying. I always had my TS serviced at the factory so the new set up with former employees could be good. If not there are lots of places to get service. As to value , I would check out original MSRP and reduce it by at least 35% to reflect the out of business status then knock off another 30 to 40% for age of unit so you should buy a MH that listed for &375,000 for around $145 to $155. I would make a really lowball offer and give them my phone number if they refuse. It is very hard to sell anything right now so just wait for the right price. Good luck!

RE: Does the 2008 Jeep Liberty accumulate mileage when towed?

disconecting the battery would disable ay kind of brake buddy type device. I have towed a '03 and 05 liberty with no problem without disconecting the cable.

RE: What milage can 400hp cat get on 40' mh

dropping down to under 65 from 75 improved mileage from5.9to 6.9. Not worth the ffort to constantly watch the speed. Just set the cruise at whatever speed limit is and try to forget about fuel consumption.

RE: Sales Tax When There's A Trade-In

Illinois (as corrupt a state as there is) does give you a break by charging tax on the cash difference after trade and rebates. If you can register out of state where taxes are lower or do not exist and keep it registered for one year then you can avoid taxes in Illinois when you register there.

RE: Has anyone had Lazy Days deliver your new motorhome to you ?

I have purchased three motor homes and have made arrangements to stay in the new motor home at the dealer for at least a week or however long it takes to get the bugs out and do not sign final docs and hand over funds until I am satisfied. If they do not want to agree to those terms then go someplace else. Good luck

RE: Discount Benefits of being a Senior

What are the benefits of being a senior age 62 and over? Now that I have reached the "GOLDEN AGE" I am finding more discounts every day. Here is a list of a couple, what have you found? Wendy's 10% Smithfield BBQ 10% National Parks - Golden age pass Harris Teeter Grocery 5% on Tuesdays Bojangles large drink .39 I've had a Golden Access Pass for about 20 years and I'm not yet 62. The difference is once you hit 62 it is $10.00 for lifetime pass.

RE: Factory installed GPS compared to Portable

I have had factory installed GPS in two cars and also in the Mountainaire and the GPS on my wife's Blackberry beats them all. Also purchased NUVI's for my Kids a few christmas's ago and they too are better easier and quite a bit cheaper than the factory units. Portable is the way to go as it would have saved me about $4000.00 and worked much better. 3 installed Units @ $1500 each or one portable at $2-300. Blackberry is only $100 as an upgrade on AT&T phone but cost an extra $30.00 per month for Edge network hook up. 4

RE: Debit Card Fraud

I check the Debit/credit card almost daily on the internet. It is tied to my electronic banking so anytime a charge is incurred I know it immediately. I track my wife's activities thruout the day if I want to. She gets kick out om calling her enroute to another store to inquire about the last purchase.

RE: Sales Ethics?

I was in sales all my life and always lived by the motto that "every knock is a boost". This salesman is not taking the long view he may wind up selling the competitors coach some day and will have to re-consider his words. If he worked for me he would be selling for someone else.

RE: Volkswagen EOS

Thanks for your responses. I did contact VW USA and they said not recommended but technician personally thought it would be ok. Manual does not address the issue but dealer's service department said that the manual shift would be ok to tow. Finally, Blue OX made a plate for the 2008 model but was not sure if it would fit the 2009. It is a great car and have wanted to purchase one for last 2 yrs but too many "ifs" from dealer and VW about warranty coverage so I guess I will have to pass until I see one being towed! Thanks again for the help!

Volkswagen EOS

Does anyone have any experience towing a Volkswagen EOS? I know this is not the Dinghy forum but I need an answer from a broader audience. Please do not move. Thanks

RE: New Mexico in Janury Febuary

New Mexico can be pretty cold that time of year and you may have to winterize or a least be very careful not to freeze up. Texas Gulf coast is usually pretty nice. We like S Padre and the Port Aransas area. Prices are more reasonable, Shrimp are great and Shore fishing is really good! We have been going to Fla for past few years(Ft. MJeyers Beach) but getting bored with the area and really dislike the "get off my Lawn" attitude in many of the RV Parks. Have a nice winter!

RE: What to do about banking while on the road?

We use a debit/credit card for all purchases and cash withdrawals. Card is provided by my Brokerage's bank and any checking transactions are also included in the on line statement and monthly summaries. It also has a bill pay feature that handles all transactions automatically except those we designate to be reviewed first. Even automatic transactions are set up to notify me via e mail before and after they are paid so I can stop if necessary. We only have one other credit card and use it at Costco exclusively for rebate and convenience. I do use an Air card for both at home and on the road internet connections. The USB connector provided by most cel phone providers cost about $60.00 per month for unlimited usage so much more efficient than having two connection systems. The only complaint About the Air card would be that it can be slow at times and is very slow for downloading large files like videos and pictures.

RE: Love's TS fuel surcharge

Most merchants do not treat credit cards any different than Debit even though the debit card is a small flat rate charge per transaction vs a 2-3% charge on entire sale. I rarely use Debit for any purchases other than consumable items because you are not protected in case of a dispute over product with merchant. Gas stations still limit purchase amounts on debit cards just like credit cards even thought the money has to be there for transaction to process! Go figure!

gen set hunting?

I was running my onan 8000 gen set for it's monthly exercize and the engine started racing intermittently when under load of the Air conditioner. When I checked the Trouble shooting section for an explanation under the trouble shooting section. I ran across a condition called Gen Set Hunting. Two questions, does anyone know why the Generator would surge like that? ( it has about 200 hrs on it and has been maintained by Onan according to book) also what does Gen Set Hunting mean? Thanks

Hi def reception with Trac vision

I have a Trac Vision model LF/SF and need to determine if this will suffice for HD reception thru Dish Network or do I have to invest in a new satelite system? I called KVH and they were not sure? Any comments are appreciated.
